Enable Cartie in your theme
Cartie renders through a Shopify app embed block. Turning it on is what makes your cart appear on the storefront.
Cartie renders on your storefront through a Shopify app embed block called *Cart Widgets*. Shopify requires merchants to enable app embeds themselves — Cartie cannot switch it on for you — so this step is unavoidable, and skipping it is why a cart that looks perfect in the builder never appears on the store.
#Turn it on
- Open the theme editor
In Cartie go to Settings → Storefront → Theme Extension → Open Theme Editor. That link opens your live theme with the app-embeds panel already selected. (The long way round: Shopify admin → Online Store → Themes → Customize → App embeds.)
- Find Cart Widgets
In the App embeds list, look for Cart Widgets. Toggle it on.
- Save
Click Save in the theme editor. Your live cart is served within about a minute.
#The block's settings

| Dev mode | Leave off. It points the storefront at Cartie's development CDN and is only for stores being used to develop Cartie itself. Turning it on in production makes your cart stop updating when you publish. |
| Runtime URL override | Development only, and only used when Dev mode is on. Leave it empty. |
#Removing Cartie from your storefront
Toggle the same block off and save. Your theme's own cart takes over immediately, and nothing in Cartie is deleted — your carts, experiments and analytics are all still there when you switch it back on.
